Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A kid who already likes Monster High, or a young collector building the Scary Sweet Birthday line
Best occasion : Halloween, Christmas or a birthday for a Monster High fan
Why it works : The party theme is already in the box: the gift bag for Draculaura, the invite, the balloon and the card let a child play out the birthday scene right away. The monster world suits Halloween without needing a costume. At about $28 it sits in the middle of a toy budget, and since the other dolls in the line are sold separately, it gives a starting point to collect more later.
Avoid if : The child does not know Monster High, or is younger than the recommended age: the box holds many small accessories, so check the age on the listing. The doll cannot stand alone, according to the listing.
