Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A Studio Ghibli fan who has seen The Boy and the Heron and likes its stranger characters.
Best occasion : A birthday or Christmas.
Why it works : The Grey Heron in man form is a less common choice than the usual Ghibli plush, so it suits a fan who already has the obvious ones. The licensed box label and the 4.6 rating over about 3,100 reviews make it a safe pick.
Avoid if : The recipient has not seen the film, since the character will mean little. At about $80 for a 5.9-inch plush, it is a collector's price.
