✓ Product data checked October 15, 2026
The Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller adds HD Rumble 2, motion controls and built-in amiibo functionality (amiibo not included). It has a Capture button, a C button for GameChat, GL and GR buttons you can map to any button you choose, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. It is rated 4.8 across more than 3,600 reviews on Amazon US, which makes it a safe pick for someone who already plays on a Switch 2.
Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A teen or adult who already owns a Switch 2 and plays often enough to want a full-size controller.
Best occasion : Christmas or a birthday, when the console is already in the house.
Why it works : It is an upgrade a gamer will notice: the HD Rumble 2 feedback, motion controls and two back buttons you can map to any input come in a full-size controller. Nintendo's name, 4.8 stars and more than 3,600 reviews keep it a low-risk choice, and the amiibo support will matter to anyone who collects them.
Avoid if : The person does not own a Switch 2, or wants GameChat on day one, since it needs a separately sold Nintendo Switch Online membership. At $89 it also costs a lot more than a basic gift for a casual player.
