Rated 4.6 across more than 11,700 reviews on Amazon US, it is a gift for a bird watcher with a window they can see from.
Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A grandparent, a retiree or a couple who enjoys watching birds from a kitchen or living room window.
Best occasion : Christmas or a birthday for someone who spends time at home; the listing names grandparents and couples as the typical recipients.
Why it works : The feeder turns an ordinary window into something to watch: the clear acrylic puts the birds within inches of the glass, per the listing. There is nothing to install beyond pressing the four suction cups onto clean glass, and the sliding tray is meant for refills without a ladder. A rating of 4.6 from more than 11,700 reviews suggests it holds up in daily use.
Avoid if : The recipient has no plain glass window they can reach and watch from, since it is built to mount on glass with suction cups. Check that bird seed is something they are happy to buy and refill regularly.
