Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A toddler who likes cars and dinosaurs, from parents or grandparents ready to spend a bit more on a big Christmas present
Best occasion : Christmas morning, a second birthday
Why it works : The Cozy Coupe is a toy a child can sit in and pretend to drive, with a horn, an ignition switch and a gas cap that all react. The dinosaur look gives a familiar toddler ride-on a themed twist. The parent push handle and removable floorboard let it work for different stages of a toddler's walking. Rated 4.6 across more than 13,000 reviews, it holds up well for a $56 present.
Avoid if : The child is over 50 lbs, or you do not have a hallway, patio or driveway to ride on. It requires assembly, so plan time to build it before the gift is opened.
