LEGO Marvel Iron Man Mech vs. Ultron (76307) is a 101-piece set for ages 6 and up. It builds a posable mech with movable arms, legs and fingers and a stud-shooter on its right arm, and the torso opens to seat the Iron Man minifigure, who has a flip-open helmet and a reversible head. A second minifigure, Ultron, holds a laser beam element. The built mech stands over 4.5 inches tall. Rated 4.8 across about 1,550 reviews on Amazon US, about $13.
Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A child of 6 or older who likes Marvel heroes and wants a small posable figure to play with right after building it.
Best occasion : A birthday gift for a young Marvel fan, or a smaller Christmas present.
Why it works : At about $13 it combines a posable mech with a cockpit and two minifigures, so the child has a toy to play with the moment the build is done, not only a model for a shelf. The mech's torso opening to seat Iron Man is the detail that sets it apart from a plain figure.
Avoid if : The child wants a larger display set, or already owns the bigger Iron Man set in the catalog (Hall of Armor, 76315).
