Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A child who collects squeeze toys and fidgets with whatever is in reach.
Best occasion : The Christmas countdown, from December 1.
Why it works : Squeeze toys are the playground currency of the moment, and here the child adds a new animal to the collection every morning; by Christmas Eve there are 24 to sort, swap with friends or line up on a shelf.
Avoid if : Small squishies end up everywhere: skip it if you already have a drawer full of them, or if a younger sibling still puts toys in their mouth.
