Why it makes a good gift
Best for : A child who likes horses or vehicles and plays with realistic toys that have working parts.
Best occasion : A birthday, Christmas.
Why it works : Two interests share one box: a Land Rover and a horse trailer with a horse. The working details, steering, sprung axles and opening doors, set it apart from a static model, and it connects with the rest of the Bruder range. Rated 4.7 across about 730 reviews at about $70.
Avoid if : The listing gives two minimum ages, 3 and 4, and warns about small parts that could be a choking hazard for under 3s. The horse's colour may vary, so the child cannot pick a specific one.
